Admission Overview

The Admissions Office is open Sunday through Thursday from 8:30 am-1:30 pm and will be pleased to answer any inquiries. DIS accepts applications for students from Kindergarten to Grade 12. All students whose mother tongue is not English may be evaluated by Admissions staff, the Stage Principal and / or Stage Supervisor prior to placement to ensure a successful integration into the standard classroom. Parents of children with mild learning disabilities must apply directly to the Admissions Office. All relevant information will be collected and evaluated to best facilitate the individual learning needs of your child.

All applications made to DIS are considered on an individual basis. Admission will only be finalized after all relevant paperwork has been completed and received by the Admissions Office. This is also dependent upon the evaluation of previous school records, an admissions examination and a possible personal interview with the Director.

Please note that all students admitted to DIS must live with their parents or an authorized adult guardian. When a student does not live with a parent or guardian, the Director or his designee will investigate and make a determination concerning a possible waiver.

DIS uses the cut-off date of October 1st for student placement. Applicants for KG1 must be 3½ years of age, KG2 must be 4½ years of age and Grade 1 applicants must be 5½ years of age. Please note that no exceptions can be made.
